Deliverance

I wrote this song the morning after someone had violently broken into our rehearsal studio and walked away with all of my gear, including the guitar I had written all of my songs to date on. It was a very difficult experience for me and it wasn't until I released the experience to a higher power that I found peace in my heart again. When the man broke into the studio, he literally came through the wall with a sledge hammer and there were bits of wall everywhere. This is why I wrote the lines "because the walls might fall, crumble to the ground, and we may feel disease, but you will bring us peace." I had written this song before 9/11, but everytime I sing those lines now, I think about the world trade center. And that is the moment when my whole difficult experience becomes very, very small.
~Words and Music by Kim Baker~

Here I sit, it's just you and me
The darkness has faded now, and you are all I see
Lift me up, show me to higher ground
And from the hilltops we'll sing, until love and peace are found

Because the walls might fall, crumble to the ground
And we may feel disease, but you will bring us peace
I hold tightly to my faith, and let everything else fall
I am one with you now, as you and I stand tall

Watch out world, here we come!
This journey has just begun
And the light will prevail
And we'll dance and we'll sing, we'll avail
To deliverance. To deliverance

So clear the wreckage from our past, heal this faceless wrath
We'll light a candle on our way, and hold everything you say
We'll do the best that we can, one day at a time
That's right sweet loving mother, let's watch the heavens shine

Watch out world, here we come!
This journey has just begun
And the light will prevail
And we'll dance and we'll sing, we'll avail
To deliverance. To deliverance
Deliverance, deliverance
(watch out world, here we come, this journey has just begun)
Deliverance, deliverance
(I said watch out world, here we come, this journey has just begun)

Here I sit, it's just you and me
The darkness has faded now, and you are all I see.
